Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) Welcomes French Delegation to Development and Capacity Building Center for Children in Sinjar

13/06/2024 - Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) had the honor of hosting a distinguished delegation from France, including French Ambassador Mr. Patrick Durrell and French Consul Mr. Jean-Christophe Augé, at the Development and Capacity Building Center for Children in Sinjar. This visit provided an opportunity to assess the present conditions of the Yezidi community, many of whom have recently returned to the region after enduring displacement and hardship.

During the visit, Ambassador Patrick Durrell expressed France's unwavering solidarity with the Yazidi community, noting France's official recognition of the genocide they faced. “We acknowledge the genocide that the Yazidi community has suffered, and we reaffirm our ongoing support for the Yezidi community in Sinjar,” he stated, emphasizing France’s commitment to standing with the Yezidi people during their recovery and rebuilding efforts.

At the visit's conclusion, HMOW’s Executive Manager, Dr. Nagham Nawzat Hassan, along with her dedicated team, extended heartfelt gratitude to the French Ambassador and Consul. They expressed their appreciation for France’s ongoing commitment and support in the Yazidis' journey towards restoration and development in Sinjar.

This significant visit highlights the depth of bilateral relations and strengthens avenues for future cooperation in human rights advocacy and developmental initiatives for the region.
